Vultures!
Vultures are a common sight over the plains and steppes of central Spain; the Griffon Vulture is by far the most numerous species, whilst the Black Vulture is comparatively rare. I took these pictures of vultures in Extramadura, Central Spain, last week.

Great shots of the birds!Wonderful photos!Thank you for sharing!
Maalie, I saw vultures while crossing the Pyrenees. Several of them were sitting near the statue of the Virgin of Orisson. I have no idea what kind they were, but they were absolutely huge. When they took off, I was gobsmacked by their size!
Nicely caught action shots. Quite impressive wingspan those birds have and what a good service they do to nature by cleaning up carcasses.
BLOODY fantastic! reminds me of 2007 mate!
they look rather frightening, actually
I don't think we have the griffon type here, but we have something we call black vultures.

My blog
I can hear the vulture sing in the Cartoon version of the Jungle Book.
Great captures.
Did you lie down and play dead, to attract them to you?
Now that's exactly the sort of question I would expect from a llama :-)
I'm wondering where Lorenzo went.... no blogging any more, Lorenzo?
