Mauerfall Berlin - The fall of the wall
Twenty years ago today, the function of Berlin Wall ended. I post this modest commemoration using pictures that I took in Berlin when I visited the city in February 2005. You can see more about this event on the blog of Entartete Musik.
Graffiti artists risked their lives painting the wall.
The graffiti are now preserved as a cultural heritage.

I happened to be in Warsaw, Poland on this day, 20 years ago. I will never forget the electricity of euphoria in the air.
Jenny visited Berlin just after the wall came down and she has a bit of it as a souvenir.
hey mate- where the heck are you? one minute i thinkyou are in Vienna, then Berlin, then you are having a beer with Worzel... man you get around.!!
"The border post hut is a replica"
I wonder if that was the one in the film: "The Spy Who Came In From the Cold", with Richard Burton?
Nice post. Nice to commemorate such a great day, and immense achievement.
Simon: I, too, ask myself the same question. It is impossible to visit our Maalie at his home.
Simon and May: you have to pin him down and force the information out of him. "When are you going to be home".
...or invite him round to yours for a slap up meal, a few beers and a dram - that seems to work... keeping one of his grandchildren hostage helps too...

Thank you for the tips!
How their lives have change. These pics were a great reminder of that historic day.
